Emma Hislop (Kāi Tahu) is a Taranaki-based writer. Her work has appeared in literary journals and anthologies in New Zealand and overseas, including Action Spectacle, Sport, Huia, Newsroom and Takahē. She has a Masters of Creative Writing from the IIML and in 2021 received the Creative New Zealand Louis Johnson New Writers Bursary. She is the author of the short story collection Ruin (2023), which won the Hubert Church Prize for Fiction for Best First Book at the 2024 Ockham NZ Book Awards.
