Shipping policy

New Zealand shipping

We offer standard untracked shipping for $7 per order, and tracked courier post for $10 per order.
  • Estimated delivery time is 5–8 working days for standard post, and 2–4 working days for tracked courier.
  • You'll receive a notification from us when your order has shipped (please check your spam if you don't receive one!), and tracking information will follow if you have selected the courier option.
  • Special delivery instructions cannot be added to orders sent by standard post.
  • Courier deliveries cannot be made to PO boxes.
  • Living in an apartment or secure complex without a reception desk? Standard mail is ideal if a book-sized package will fit your external letterbox or mail slot. For courier delivery, you must provide your building entry code and phone number in the checkout notes to prevent the parcel from being returned to us. If access is tricky, please consider shipping to a work address or local collection point to make sure you get your books.

International shipping
We offer standard shipping to most countries worldwide. However, we are sorry to say that currently we are not able to ship to the United States.

For courier options outside New Zealand, please drop us a line at thwup@wgtn.ac.nz.
  • For standard shipping, no tracking information is available.
  • You'll receive a notification from us when your order has shipped (please check your spam if you don't receive one).
  • Shipping cost is calculated by weight at checkout.
  • Estimated costs and timings:
    • Australia: Starting from NZ$15.00 per order; 1–2 weeks.

    • Europe and the UK: Starting from NZ$30.00 per order; 3–4 weeks.

Why haven't I received tracking information?
For tracked shipping within New Zealand, please choose the courier option at checkout for NZ$10.00. The tracking information is added after your parcel is dispatched.

Can I add delivery instructions to my order?
Unfortunately, we can't add special delivery instructions for standard shipping. If you need specific delivery instructions, please choose the courier option and enter your special instructions in the Notes field of your order.

I've mislaid my invoice. Can you send another one?
No problem! Email us at thwup@wgtn.ac.nz and we'll send it through.

I'm buying a book as a gift. Please don't include the receipt!
All good – just let us know in the Notes field of your order and we won't include the receipt. We don't have special gift-wrapping paper, but we will make sure the brown paper is as tidy as possible and will include a postcard or two :)

Why is my international order taking so long?
International shipping times can vary due to customs processes and local postal services. If your order is significantly delayed, please get in touch and we'll do our best to help.

The book I want is listed as 'out of print'. Is there any way I can get a copy?
Because we've been publishing books for so many years, many of our older titles have indeed gone out of print and can be hard to find now; we only hold archival copies and no copies for sale. We recommend checking out Book Hub to see if any stores around New Zealand stock the book you're after. AbeBooks is another good source of hard-to-find books. The book might also be available as an ebook (many of our books are available for download from MeBooks). Failing that, try secondhand bookshops, and check out your local library. You can also email us for advice at thwup@wgtn.ac.nz and we'll try to help.
